Do I Need to Be Strong to Start?
Edited

No. Come as you are and you'll get stronger.

Most of our members can't lift their weight off the ground when they start at Aerial Dance. That is why in all our Beginner Pole and Aerial classes we offer many variations of every move so you can start to build strength no matter where you are in your fitness journey. Pole and Aerial doesn't use "gym" strength in the same way as lifting weights because every move is full body involvement including all the little stabilizing muscles that aren't as exercised at a typical gym. Being strong to start may help you reach some moves faster, but for others it won't matter at all.

In general, your attitude will decide if you are successful at Pole & Aerial, not your starting strength. If you show up for week one of Beginner Pole expecting to be able to lift your body off the ground even though you've never done that before and can't, and then you decide the sport isn't for you, it won't be. If you show up for week one and can't lift your weight off the ground but listen and do the move variation the instructor gives you, you will build more strength and in time you will be able to do the full move. If you are willing to keep showing up to try new things and allow your body to get stronger, then you will be successful at Pole and Aerial!
